We've found a house and a Primary school for Thad. The house looks dodgy from the outside and is really old and musty, tattered and torn on the inside and it SMELLS OF CAT URINE!!!!! But it's is spacious and it has a good sized backyard for Thad to run around in. We've also registered Thad at the local prep, Amsleigh Park Primary, which was the main reason we liked the area. It's a beautiful state school on very large green grounds that has a great feel. They also have football (soccer) as an extracurricular. Thad says he wants to join the Art and Guitar Club. So fun!!!!

Besides APP, we visited a Catholic school in Mt Waverley. It felt cold, with the archetypal Catholic nun principal telling off a child for not having manners. Brrrrr....

Thad has a horrible sore throat. We had Russian Jewish food last night and I've fallen in love with the place. It's a quaint little coffeshop / cafe / restaurant along Acland St in St Kilda's. St Kilda is a great area. I think I want to shift there next. There's a fantastic adventure playground in Neptune Street that just boasts of community spirit. We attended a Jewish Scouts event at the playground last week. There's a trampoline, flying fox (I had a turn... so fun, WHEE!), heaps of other fun stuff...

Thad had a great day today. He's still not asleep (8.30 PM) cause the adrenaline is still pumping. He decided to turn his room into a gym and his bed into a trampoline this morning and did 50 tuck jumps, star jumps, splits and forward rolls. He was having so much fun that we were late for Alia's 5th birthday party at Essendon Traffic School.

Alia, her mom and her godmother looked gorgeous, dressed like fairy princesses, each wearing pink sparkly headbands. At the party, Thad rode a bike with training wheels all by himself, round and round the track adhering to the road rules! He kept getting stuck when going uphill and hollered for help each time. Andrew, his good friend, helped him a couple of times. There was an entertainer who played lots of great songs, including Roxy music's Let's Stick Together, Another one Bites the Dust by Queen, I Wanna Rock and Roll all night by Kiss... he was a hoot.

During the limbo rock, Thad decided to run around the building everytime he had a turn. He did about 10 100m sprints and lived to tell the tale. WTF??? Then, during the musical chairs, Thad just HAD to walk backwards when everyone walked forwards and walked counter-clockwise when everyone walked clockwise. He lasted till the quarter finals. At one stage, he decided it was better to hover around a chair then to walk around. CHEATER BUG!!!!

I STILL HAVEN"T GOT A PLACE TO STAY!!!!!!! It must be my agent giving me a bad rep. Deservedly so, I suppose. Thing is, Oct is when kids trial a few days for prep the following year. If I don't have a house, I don't know where to register Thad. Grrrr.....

Thad had show and tell yesterday. He brought in an empty box and a photo we took with a koala. He talked about his new GameBoy game and his trip to Currumbin Wildflife park. Don cooked tortellini last night and we watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit while having dinner. We then went to the balcony to gaze at Jupiter and Mars. Thad had learnt in school that Mars was visible and that it is the red planet. We also found out, from the Scienceworks Planetarium website, that Jupiter is the brightest object in the sky right now.

This AM, Thad and I played The Cat in the Hat Board game. He could read ALL the words to my suprise! He's so ready to learn how to read, and has been for many many years, but neither Don nor I are doing anything. Damn, I wish I was a better mother and taught him more, spent more time with him, not let him get hungry, offer him more fruit. He can't even ride a bike! We went to the park with his bike last Sunday (it was a glorious day) and met a beautiful family. We played hide and seek and acted out Three Billy Goats Gruff and Hansel and Gretel.

Thad's been invited to his classmate's 5th birthday party on Sunday at Essendon Road safety park. So fun!!!!

I'm going in tonight to admit patients. Why do I feel so guilty that I love spending time in the hospital? No one understands, truly. They either serve platitudes or just can't grasp the concept. The thing is, I tend to let Thad win over my studies. I think I'm going to be a crap doctor. I'm already a crap mother. Damnit, I'm a master of none.

We viewed 2 houses in Mt Waverley yesterday and Thad fell in love with one. He whispered conspirationally at the agent's office, not to return the key so that we can start shifting in.

When I got home tonight around 6.45 PM, Thad seemed aloof. We talked in his room and he confessed that he was upset cause I left before he went into kinder and returned after his dinner. He actually woke up ard 5 AM -ish and woke me up. I couldn't go back to sleep. He's been coming to our bed in the middle of the night, and I know we should bring him back, but I love to smell him and I'm too lazy to get him back.

Inspired by the Alice in Wonderland rhymes we were reading tonight at bedtime, he made up this poem.

"Who ate the Cheese?
Me, said the mouse.

Don interviewed 8 people in Boxhill today for his assignment. My sister got a new car in Perth. My dad and I recited the pledge over the phone to commemorate National Day. I'm a stayer. I think.

Don's passed his L's! The Ozone has to take another hole for the team. Jane and I want to get the new Toyota hybrid car.

Thad swallowed a cherry seed today. We told him that a cherry tree will grow from his ears in a few days. Thad didn't even have the decency to look the least bit shocked and told us that we are ridiculous.

Have to go buy milk and watch Thad in the bath.

Have been watching alot of Hard Gay stuff (Jap comedian, may be found on youtube). Thad enjoyed this episode where he concocts bizzare recipes and feeds children. Thad and I will try out these recipes over the weekend. Will start with capsicum and peanut butter sushi and move on to the carrot pancake dog. Don boasts that he has been doing that hip thrust thing way before HG. He does it as a celebratory gesture and thinks he's super cool, but really, it's tacky and offensive, darling. Ta. He's practices HG's dance moves to Ricky Martin's Living La vida loca, which he forced me to watch and has added "hoo" to every sentence he says.

Youtube rocks. At last month's Russel Peters that darling Jane got tix for (it was sold out in an hour), he seemed to oppose free media and piracy. Ironic, coming from the poster boy of downloading who owes his popularity to generous people with camcorders and a computer.

Don and I went for a Royston Tan short film screening today, thanks to Jane sitting for Thad. WE LOVE YOU JANE!!!! It was great. We blubbered at mu (mother) and zi (son), laughed with Cut (which we had seen previously at an Observatory gig), marveled at DIY, were moved emotionally by Monley love and a Korean short, felt nostalgic with New York Girl (we ALL know someone like her), Careless Whisper and Hock Hiop Leong and were thoroughly entertained by him during the Q&A session. It was a treat to see Little in drag and Desmond in a hospital gown being tortured and brainwashed in Careless Whipser. I love his narrative shorts and how he captures beautiful scenes with his colour tinted lens. His use of kitsch... have to go
