All hail democracy
Thad had a traumatic experience yesterday. We went for a party thrown by the Sociallist Alliance yesterday and they had a free jumping castle installed. It was magnificent. More Indiana Jones than Disney, with obstacles, long slides, deep tunnels and hidden crevices along the way. While Thad was in the middle of it, it suddenly started hailing 2 - 5 mm ice pieces. He didn't come out even though the kids that went in after him had emerged. After the necessary additional 10 second wait for my un-athletic son that inherited my genes, I realised something was wrong and tried to go in after him, only to slip and fall on my bum trying to get onto the castle. Then, a woman volunteer that went in with him, cause she thought he was so cute, carried him out.
Thad was crying and we were thoroughly drenched. We ran for cover. He was inconsolable but I gathered that he wasn't scared of the hail (he managed to inform me indignantly that he's seen hail before) and wasn't hurt.
Luckily, we bumped into the good Samaritan that saved Thad and she told me that he was stuck in a hole in the castle.
Gathering all my psychiatry skills to circumvent post traumatic stress disorder, we talked about his experience while I dried his clothes under a hand dryer in a smelly, dingy toilet. The apparent laxative property of hail was discovered then, as flocks of women rushed into the loo to relieve their tummies and accost my senses.
After we were dry, Thad and I visited the Old Melbourne Goal.
Thad had show and tell today. He brought a silverfish carcass that we found from a textbook I borrowed from the library. We caught it in an old Tic Tac box. He told everyone that mom screamed loudly when we saw the bug and it lives in books because it eats paper, glus, hair and plants. It has 2 long antennae at the top of its head. It's called silverfish because it's silver, but he doesn't know why it's called fish. Don had to restrain me from bringing pom poms and banners and from climbing the school walls to video tape Thad's performace.
Have to take a shower and then sleep. Damn, so busy now, hardly have time to apply for internship.
